My Top 3: Board Books for Baby

When Rhett was a couple of months old, I remember wanting to start reading to him. It was all fine and dandy until he learned to grab onto things and ripped a page out of one of my childhood books! My arms are only so long, I couldn’t have him in my lap and keep the books out of his reach, so it was either never read to him again, or figure something else out.
In all honesty, I didn’t even know what a board book was until I googled something like “books with thick, hard pages that my baby can’t destroy.” And wa-la! Up popped several board books! (I learn on the job, okay?)

So today I am sharing some of our favorites that have stood the test of time…which basically means they have made it through two teething toddlers. And are also fun for us grownups to look at and read.

1. Little Blue Truck

Okay, so this is my all time favorite books for my toddlers/babies. The story is SO cute and it rhymes and I LOVE IT. The illustrations are beautiful and it teaches them all of the animal sounds as you go along. Okay, maybe not all of them. There are no lions in this book. That would be weird.

But we did a Little Blue Truck themed birthday party for the boys. And my mother-in-law made the CUTEST truck cakes. I almost hid them from the boys because I didn’t want to see them be destroyed. (ha)

2. Moo, Baa, La La La

I remember my baby sister reading this one, so it was kind of nostalgic for me to get this for my kids. It’s short, sweet and to the point and even keeps Eli’s attention (who is my most distracted reader for sure). I remember Rhett always shaking his head back and forth at the “No no no!” part. SO CUTE.

3. Colors, ABC, Numbers

So I’m not gonna lie. This is not mommy’s favorite read. I find it boring, but I seem to be alone in this as both of my boys LOVE this book. Rhett even reads it to himself now, as it’s only blocks with pictures of things and the name of them below it. It cracks me up to hear him counting chickens and somehow ending up with 17 (SPOILER ALERT. There are only 6.)

Hope you check these books out, because our little family really does enjoy them! They are super cheap on Amazon too, which is always a bonus! What are some of your little one’s favorite reads?
